Mr. Antwan T. Lang is a native and resident of Savannah, Georgia. He is the son of Mr. Thomas Lang (ILA LOCAL 1414) and Mrs. Joanne Lang (Registered Nurse), both deceased. After four years in the foster care systems of Toombs, McIntosh, and Chatham County, Mr. and Mrs. Lang adopted Antwan at four years old. Although he’s never met his biological mother or father, he strives for excellence every day to make both parents proud. Lang is a graduate of Windsor Forest High School and Savannah State University. He holds a BA in Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and Master of Public Administration Degree from Savannah State. Currently Lang is pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Mercer University and a Doctor of Chiropractic from LIFE University. Lang honorably serves the country and the State of Georgia as a member of the Georgia National Guard.

Professionally, Lang is a Licensed Life, Accident & Health Insurance Broker. He serves as Chief of Staff to Georgia State Senator and Chairman of the Georgia Senate Urban Affairs committee Dr. Lester G. Jackson III and as a legislative aide to the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus the largest in the nation. Lang has been instrumental in helping craft and pass landmark legislation helping veterans, improving education, and providing healthcare for Georgians across the state. Lang is the past president of the Young Democrats of Chatham County and has served as Vice President of programs for the Young Democrats of Georgia.

His work with mentoring young men and women earned him an opportunity to become a member of the prestigious 100 Black Men of Savannah, serving as the executive board secretary. As he remains active in the 100 Black Men, he also serves on several community boards and commissions.

In 2015, Lang was appointed by the Savannah Mayor and council to serve on the Keep Savannah Beautiful Advisory board and the Savannah Cultural Affairs Commission. Mr. Lang is a life member of the Beach Institute African-American Cultural Center of Savannah which began in 1867 as the first school in Savannah erected specifically for the education of African Americans. As a former foster child himself, Mr. Lang joined the board of CASA ( Court Appointed Special Advocates) in 2017 and was elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Savannah Branch NAACP. Continuing his commitment to education, Lang serves as Chair of the board of directors for the Alice Blount Academy of Science and Agriculture in Vidalia, Ga. Lang made history in Chatham County, Georgia as the youngest elected official in the county’s history.

At 24 years old, he was elected to the Chatham County Board of Elections. For his outstanding work and commitment to the community Lang was chosen as the first recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. associations “Trailblazer” Award in 2020.

As a young professional, Lang joined the Savannah Jaycees in 2014. He served on the Board of the Junior Chamber for two years and elected president on December 5th, 2017. Lang was proud to serve as the second African American to hold this position in it’s 75-year history.

Lang proudly serves as a member of the Savannah Chamber of Commerce governmental affairs council. He is a member of the First African Baptist Church, the oldest continuous African American Church in the United States and is a proud Prince Hall Mason and Noble of Omar Temple #21 Shriners.

Lang is a member of the Washington D.C. chapter of The Rocks Inc. An organization formed to provide mentorship, professional development and social interaction to strengthen the military officer corps. As a result of strong scholastic achievement Lang was inducted as a member of Pi Alpha Alpha (PAA) the National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administrators and is a member of The Young Elected Officials Network. Lang is also a member of the Georgia Chiropractors Association. 

Lang is also a dedicated member of the William P Jordan American Legion POST 500, the first African American Post in Georgia.
